On the Seashore of Endless Worlds
Children, fortunately, are unaware of the world's dangers or the problems of adults. I have attempted to portray this but from a darker perspective. The children are entirely innocent, yet the world's dangers and "sea storms" will also affect them. They just don't know it yet. I have tried to build a menacing atmosphere, a seriousness that constantly demands attention. The world is collapsing, while the children play on the beach, gazing out at the infinite storm of the world. This piece was commissioned by the Finnish male choir Muntra Musikanter and their conductor Riku Laurikka as a part of their 145 year anniversary.
